Principal's Message

I am excited and truly honored to begin my fourth year as the principal of Howe Elementary School. Howe Elementary School is a learning community with educational professionals committed to contributing to the culture of student success. We are dedicated to providing a stimulating and enjoyable learning environment where all students can achieve. Our focus is to continually improve the educational experience for all of our students and our mission is to empower all learners to achieve maximum growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

For over fifteen years, it has been my pleasure to be an educator and to support student learning and achievement. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in History and
Secondary Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership. I began my teaching career as a Social Studies teacher and have spent the past nine years in building administration; two as an
assistant principal, and seven as a principal. My experiences have afforded me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of English Language Learners, Special Education, Response to Intervention, Gifted Education, school discipline,
curriculum, and instruction. On the personal side, I spend my free time participating in many activities. I am an avid golfer, have bred and shown Champion Great Danes, love to watch all professional sports, and enjoy crocheting, yoga,
Zumba, and running in 5K events. I am the youngest of seven children, and I enjoy spending free time with my family, especially my nieces and nephews. In the past year, I adopted two Cockapoos; Winston and Murphy. They are six year old dogs who are also brothers!

Please contact me with any questions, concerns or comments to ensure your child has a successful school year. Through a partnership based on communication, trust, and dedication, together we can ensure your child’s success at Howe Elementary.

Warmest Regards,
Dr. April Miller, Ed.D.
